Eleventh Hour Holiday Shopping Strategies

christmas presentsYou think you’ve got everything from your shopping list all wrapped and ready to go when you realize you completely forgot to get a gift for Aunt May!  With Christmas only 2 days away, you can’t get any more “last minute” than right now.  Scrambling to the store is your only option at this point, but you really don’t have a good plan.  Here are some last minute shopping tricks we like to keep up our sleeve for just this type of occasion.

  • Even though you might feel rushed at this point, you will still want to take a minute to think of a game plan.  Sometimes running out to the store without a plan can cause you to spend much more than you originally planned on spending.  Find which store has the items you want at the best price and do not go over your budget.
  • Give yourself a time limit.  Again, you might spend more than you bargain for on gifts if you linger too long in the shop.  Give yourself a set amount of shopping time and stick to it.
  • Buy some more time.  Think about the next time you will see the person you are buying a gift for.  If you will not be seeing them directly on Christmas, check online to see if you can have it shipped a little later at a cheaper price.
  • Gift cards.  Not only are gift cards super easy to purchase, you will be giving the gift of a wonderful outing to your loved one.  Whether it is for a store, restaurant, or service, gift cards all are guaranteed to fit.
  • Have absolutely no time or extra money to shop at all?  Make something thoughtful for your loved ones.  Everyone loves home baked cookies and pastries.  Go ahead and whip up a batch of your famous chocolate chips cookies using items in your own pantry.  Wrap them up with a bow and voila!

Merry Christmas to you all and to all a great night!
